Inspect HTML heading levels and find jumps in the outline. Check article structure before changing the headings in your page template.

How to use

Paste the HTML source. Read the heading list and H1 count, then inspect entries marked as skipped levels. The tool does not fetch a web page.

Example

An H2 immediately followed by an H4 is flagged as a skipped level. An H2 followed by an H3 continues the hierarchy.

FAQ

Does a flagged jump prove an SEO penalty?

No. It identifies an outline issue to review. Choose heading levels for document structure rather than visual size.

A practical task

Inspect the outline as a reader moving through sections. A heading called Details gives less guidance than a heading naming the actual subject. Check that each child heading belongs under its parent before changing levels just to remove a warning.

Another useful question

Does one H1 make the whole structure correct?

No. The report counts headings, but their meaning and nesting still need review. A visually prominent line is not automatically the right document heading.

Details for interpreting the result

Detail Explanation
HTML and plain text HTML tags describe structure. Plain text displays characters without interpreting them as tags. Decide which result you need before removing markup, escaping brackets, or pasting output into an editor.
HTML character references Character references such as & describe a character inside HTML. A reference can be escaped again when nested in another source. Decoding one layer is different from decoding every layer of a value.
Escaping and sanitizing Escaping represents special characters literally. Sanitizing removes or changes unsafe markup according to rules. Neither operation should be replaced by assuming that unknown input contains harmless display text.
Preview boundaries A restricted preview can block scripts, external images, fonts, and other resources. That keeps the preview separate from active page behavior, but it also means it is not a faithful copy of every production layout.
Syntax and schema A document can be syntactically valid yet contain the wrong fields or types for an application. Syntax checks confirm the format; schema and business rules determine if the receiving system can use the data.
Markdown source and rendering Markdown uses text markers for structure, such as headings, emphasis, and lists. Different renderers support different extensions. Compare the source with the destination renderer before relying on complex table or layout syntax.
Mixed XML content An XML element can contain both words and child elements. Adding indentation inside that content can insert meaningful whitespace. Preserve mixed text, CDATA, and explicit space preservation instructions.
